About the Kn.E.R.D.S.
The Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes Foundation and Innovative Approaches Education Consulting Firm (founded by Anashay Wright) joined forces to create the New Kn.E.R.D.S. Educational Movement. Both organizations believe that creativity, innovation and 21st Century Skills fused with Arts Integration are some of our best allies in the fight for education.
About The Lisa Lopes Foundation:
This is an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to providing youth from low income communities and diverse cultural backgrounds with innovative programs and resources to increase motivation and strengthen their desire to succeed in school and beyond. Incorporated in 2002, we remain focused on increasing graduation rates to empower underperforming students to compete in the global marketplace and thrive as successful adults. LLF was pioneered by the vision and legacy of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes (former member of the top selling American female group of all time TLC).
About Innovative Approaches:
After serving as co-founder and Executive Director for the Lisa Lopes Foundation from 2002-2006, Anashay Wright, M.Ed. discovered her passion for education and Arts Integration. Innovative Approaches was founded by Anashay Wright in 2006 in an effort to increase educational equity for students in underserved communities and schools. Innovative Approaches works alongside schools, social service agencies, parents, and other nonprofit organizations to address the needs of students with low standardized test scores and who may be deemed “at-risk.” We make learning fun and relevant by presenting educational standards in a non-traditional way.
The Partnership:
On behalf of both organizations, we would like to present a group of scholars and teachers from elementary and middle schools in the Metro Atlanta Area known as the New Knerds:
