The 1st Annual Left Eye Music Fest
Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center
3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur, GA

The family-fun event will fuse and celebrate Left Eye’s original style and eclectic taste in music, fashion, food and fun. Open to the public, the 1-day festival will feature a kids’ concert, talent showcase, fashion show and star studded tribute concert. Proceeds from the exclusive reception and music fest will benefit the programs and initiatives of the Lisa Lopes Foundation.
The 1st Annual Left Eye Music Fest (#LEMF) was envisioned by Lisa’s younger siblings, Ronald and Reigndrop Lopes to commemorate the legacy of the critically acclaimed artist. The annual event will rally fans, arts and entertainment and national communities to offer a philanthropic & interactive live media experience to the masses, in Lisa’s honor.

The New Knerds have created songs to educate the world about issues such as bullying, low-motivation in the classroom, violence among our youth, pervasive images on the internet and the list goes on!
The Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes Foundation (LLF) and Innovative Approaches Education Consulting Firm believe that “positive” music with an inspirational message is one of our best “allies” in the fight for education. On behalf of LLF, we would like to present a group of scholars and teachers from elementary and middle schools in the Metro Atlanta Area known as the “New Knerds”. Kn.E.R.D.S. stand for: Knowledgeable-Educated-Relentlessly-Driven-Scholars. The New Knerds firmly believe that motivation is the “key” component to ensuring that our future leaders become most successful!

The New Knerds aim to inspire our country’s future leaders, utilizing the Arts as tool to motivate, educate and inspire; in an effort to reshape and reform our current educational system.

Community Need:

“The future of the world lies in the hands of today’s children. Therefore, it is very important for children to be well developed both mentally and physically. The only way to make sure that the growth of a country is not hampered is to educate them.” —Ronkini Roy – Education Journalist

Many believe that the major problem with public education today is a lack of focus on creativity, motivation and innovation. The progressive side of the educational continuum champions intellectual freedom as the cornerstone of democratic society. Student autonomy, creativity, and curiosity are espoused as leading forces in a meaningful education. The “back to basics” advocates believe that curriculum should be standardized and students drilled on its content to ensure a basic level of skill. No single set of reform ideas, however, can magically create a well-educated generation of tomorrow’s leaders. Education requires initiative and commitment to build the whole child socially, emotionally and academically.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation and Innovative Approaches’ New Kn.E.R.D.S. – Movement has that commitment.
